                  - CHAMPAGNES FOR SUMMER -

DATE: FRI 4 JULY 2008    PRICE: £35.00   TIME: 7.00PM

We will taste Vintage, Non Vintage, Blanc de Blanc, & Rose Champagnes (incl. Premier Cru & Grand Cru - the best vineyards in France). Several of the wines feature in Tom Stevenson’s Champagne Buyer’s Guide, and have won awards in the French wine bible – the ‘Guide Hachette’. A lot of the big Champagne houses use grapes produced from contract growers all over the region, with a subsequent variation in quality. Small growers Champagnes, however, are different - they do everything from growing the grapes and harvesting, to making and maturing the Champagne (often in much smaller quantities), with greater control of quality at every stage. We have personally selected these wines directly from the French producers to illustrate what some of the smaller, independent growers can achieve with the best quality grapes and winemaking. Once you have tasted these Champagnes you'll never buy another bottle of Moet or Bollinger again! The wines will be accompanied by suitable canapes of smoked salmon, trout, and caviar.
