This is the section of the website where we will feature our recommendations of wine on offer from local wine merchants/supermarkets that we think represent excellent quality and value for money! Some of them will have been voted as favourite wines from our wine tastings and courses, others will be recommendations from some of our regular guests.

Some of the best new Spanish whites come from Rueda (due south-west from Rioja), and Rias Baixas in Galicia (in the far northwest corner of Spain). One of the best whites I have tasted for a long while is this stunning zesty, lemony Verdejo - if you like Sauvignon Blanc I think you will love this wine – full of refreshing acidity and full ripe pear and lemon flavours – great with fish, salads, or just by itself!

• Thierry Manoncourt dies
  Thierry Manoncourt, the owner of Ch??teau Figeac in St Emilion, has died aged 92.
• DWWA medal winners touch down in Argentina
  More than 50 Argentinian sommeliers attended the first-ever Decanter World Wine Awards tasting in Argentina.
• New York harvest earlier, larger than 2009
  New York anticipates a larger and much earlier harvest this year than it had in 2009.
• Canadian harvest begins
  The Canadian harvest started today in Ontario's Niagara region, the earliest commercial picking there in more than 20 years.
